About The Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and creative Web Developer I to join our Digital Marketing and Creative Services team within the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Diversity. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining websites for the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity, ensuring that web content is accessible, user-friendly, and aligned with university standards. You will collaborate closely with campus partners, including IT and content creators, to enhance digital communications and improve user experience across various platforms. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the university’s digital presence, support student engagement initiatives, and develop your skills in web development, UX, and accessibility. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience demonstrating relevant skills and knowledge. Key qualifications include strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a deadline-driven environment. A foundational understanding of website structure, web development concepts, and design principles is essential. Familiarity with web technologies, content management systems—particularly OmniCMS—and programming languages such as HTML and CSS is preferred. Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.x and Section 508), SEO best practices, and experience using Adobe Creative Suite tools are highly desirable. Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary to collaborate with team members and campus stakeholders. A willingness to learn new technologies and creative problem-solving skills will contribute to success in this role. Responsibilities Maintain and update OmniCMS-hosted websites, including content updates, site migrations, and troubleshooting site functionality issues such as redirects, calendars, and integrations. Ensure all websites adhere to accessibility, usability, and mobile responsiveness standards, conducting accessibility reviews and implementing necessary improvements. Support digital communications efforts by assisting with newsletter and email production using Salesforce and collaborating with content creators to optimize site structure, navigation, and overall user experience. Implement and support search engine optimization (SEO) strategies, utilizing tools such as Google Analytics to monitor and analyze website performance. Stay current on trends in UX, accessibility, and web design to continually enhance the digital experience. Partner with IT and campus stakeholders on web projects, providing technical support and guidance on web tools and processes. Assist with creating and editing graphics and web-related content to support digital initiatives. Provide guidance and support to colleagues, fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement of web assets.
